Leather and Other Wallets

Before mens wallets became known as a medium in which to store currency, leather pouches were more serviceable since coins were the only currency used. Wallets debuted during the 1600s soon after paper currency, which was then made of corn paper, became widely used in the West. The earliest wallets were made of superior leather from cow or horse hide and were very durable.

Today's leather wallets are not very different from the leather wallets in the past except for the card slots that were added when credit cards were created in the '50s. About the only change in wallets was probably in the 1970s when Velcro became popular. Wallets today come in various shapes, sizes, and designs.

There are leather wallets that can be hung around the neck with a leather string. This is to keep them hidden.

For girls, there are five kinds of wallets that they should have. Let's take a look.

* The front pocket leather wallet is designed for women on the go so these wallets should be handy. It is designed to be carried in the front pocket and is somewhat rounded and flat. Despite the space-saving feature of the front pocket wallet, it can hold cash, cards, change, and IDs. This is often made of Napa leather and available in black and brown colors with combinations of other colors for a more stylish look. But you might also want those that has a little splash of colors like pink, blue, and green.

* Another type is Tony Perotti's travel wallets. This has three separate zipped compartments for bills, cards, and change. Its front flap has a hidden snap to secure it well. The taxi wallet is available in chocolate brown and black.

* The Ultimo eather weekend wallet is small enough to easily conceal on your person but big and organized enough to fit six cards and a number of other things beyond your cash. It has internal pockets for you to be able to sort out the contents. They are made of hand-dyed leather in cognac, chocolate brown, or black.

* The money clip wallet is a classic. You can bring it with you anywhere. It has a clip at the center that holds your cash and additional compartments for cards and change. You can get them in black, honey, and brown colors.

* Rustico's leather weekend wallet is created by Tony Perotti and only comes in brown. The smooth-edged design is appealing and easy to carry. It has an ID window on the back side, two credit card slots, and two multifunction center pockets.
