A year ago, one of my beagle puppies resolved to walk away from house. . She had been in our family for six years and a roommate for our little west highland terrier (Muttley).

Her name was Scoobie and she was a great beagle puppy.Scooobie acted like a bit of a mom hen towards Muttley and looked after her non stop 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

I was so heart broken when Scoobie left and poor Muttley looked so baffled.A friend of mine started describing me about beagle dogs and I devoured all the info I could on the web .It crossed my mind that maybe Muttley would like having another big dog to look after him. Then the discovery began, and it was a discovery, where do I get a dog in our area .

Asking the breeder beagle questions was the all important thing in determining which breeder I would choose.I had everyone at work helping me try and locate a good breeder.

Barbara who is a great friend of mine checked out where she was living to see if she would have any better luck than me I am a city slicker and my mate Barbara lives in the countryside. Barbara is within a very short driving distance of Long Island and we were told from a reliable source that there were dog stock breeders there.

So Barbara picked up the telephone and made an assignment to see the stock breeders in the flesh.The pups soon arrived in early 2004 and we were exalted when we got the news. We couldnt contain ourselves with the stress of visiting the breeders and picking up our new puppy.

A week later we made the short journey to see the breeder and I just couldnt choose which one I wanted.Two trips later and I was still no nearer to working out which dog would spend the est of his life with me up the road. My decision was made easier by the fact that one of the dogs apparently took a shine to me, he started to go for my laces on my shoes and was able to untie one of them.

On May 10, 2004, Smurf came to his new home and has been such a joy for us and Muttley.

Smurf has made even the most distressed person laugh and smile, how could you not love that face.It didnt take long for Smurf to hook up with a new girlfriend so we could well be grandparents in the next few months I cant wait.
